Andrea Morgante was invited by Arthritis Research UK - now Versus Arthritis - to contribute and reimaging a collection of functional bathroom fittings focused on assisting users suffering from arthritis.

Arthritis in the knees and hips can make it difficult to get in and out of a bath: the design intent behind each proposal is focused on allowing users to safely and comfortably access the bath, reducing the strain and effort, whilst promoting a contemporary, friendly design that fits discretely the bathroom environment.

The "Linear System" offers a wide, customizable range of continuous grab bars that elegantly blend with any existing bathroom environment. Each element comes in a variety of lengths, to meet personal requirement, finishes and accessories, providing the ultimate bathing experience in style and comfort. The main horizontal bar has a discreet hinge can rotate 90 degrees to provide a sturdy grip reducing strain when getting from a seated to vertical posture.

The accessory suite is focused on making all necessary bathing products accessible and easy-to-reach, reducing the risk of falls or injuries.

"Pebble" is a contemporary bath step with an integrated vertical handle inspired by natural water formed stones. The raised step lets you confidently get in and out of your tub, reducing the height gap between the floor surface and the bathtub top edge. This minimizes strain and risk of injuries and falls.

The pebble step is made of durable glass-fibre shell, with a textured top surface that provides a safe grip in wet conditions, whilst the soft polyurethane coated grab handle provides multiple hand grips, accommodating different heights and angles. The vertical handle has a bayonet fixing that can be rotated by 90 degrees, to offer four suitable positions for greater flexibility and comfort.

The pebble's base has an internal metal plate that can be fixed onto the floor surface for added stability and comes in a range of different colours and finishes.

"Vertical System" is an modern, elegant and flexible range of safe grab handles to aid getting in and out of the bath. Tension mounted to be easily installed in any bathroom without permanent fixing.

Each handle is ergonomically placed, providing stability and support in every movement and posture whilst getting in and out of the tub. All handles can pivot to offer greater flexibility.
